The applied geophysics training of practical terrain measurement
and interpretation of seismic and direct current geophysical methods
- The first applied geophysics training of practical terrain measurement
and interpretation of seismic geophysical methods took place in 2003 in Brno and
Hostenice. Two photos are from recent seismic refraction measurement in Zamilec valley
from the second practical geophysical course for students of Salzburg University.
Basic information and downloads for this year's course students:
- This year's course measurenet proceeded also in the vicinage of the village Hostěnice
in the region of Moravian Karst. Moravian Karst is venerable land,
in the edge of old Czech massive. It is built with rocky and coral limestones
and in this locality also by shales.
The aim of the shallow seismic refraction demonstration measurement was to determine
the velocity of seismic P-vawe spreading in a shale built area. Its value can be usefull
for optimal explosive dose determination for blast-firing in the near lime quarry.

- The aim of this year's VES demonstration measurement was to find out the resistivity of the rock subbase
in Hostěnice field. The value was usefull for rock kind determination and for
multiiteration interpretation of preceding reflection measurement.
